Inchcape Shipping Services, in order to meet the increased logistic demands of its clients, has developed its Antarctic Operations Logistics Proposal.
In a non-explored, highly demanding and very specialised market, ISS has found the capacity to offer Antarctic Operators the following Logistics Proposal:
· ISS, in conjunction with our partners UTI-SLI, has built a self-propelled Antarctic Delivery Barge named CRISTINA POLAR with the capacity to deliver ship-to-shore goods like vehicles, containers, construction materials and other cargo. Barge capacity is up to 14,000 kgs.
· ISS and UTI-SLI will have regular departures from Punta Arenas in Chile to Antarctica for the delivery of goods to Antarctic Bases in the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula. The Antarctic Summer Season starts in November and ends in February-early March. ISS will publish at a later date the name of the ship that will take cargo to Antarctica and schedules of dates of departure from Punta Arenas in Chile.
· Deliveries of liquid bulk products (like gasoil), collection of residues from bases in Antarctica, as well as personnel distribution to bases is currently under study, but will in future be a reality within the wide range of Antarctic Logistic Services offered by ISS and UTI-SLI.
· Special deliveries and placement of containers on land are options that can be offered by ISS/UTI-SLI. ISS has developed a skate, and can take special equipment to the white continent and islands to move containers from seashore to their final location in the bases.
Please contact the Antarctic Operations Team for a more detailed study of your Antarctic logistic requirements and we will do our utmost to help you in the last frontier of the world.
