ISS - Corporate Social Responsibility

Our Corporate Social Responsibility policy is closely linked to our code of ethical behaviour. We insist on a high level of ethical conduct from our staff in the workplace and also encourage individual and group CSR initiatives as part of the responsibility we have towards the communities and the environment in which we work.

Some examples are:

The ISS Marine Academy
By offering induction and ongoing training courses in many fields including language tuition, we give young people from around the world the opportunity for a worthwhile career in shipping.

The Sailors Society
We have recently donated money to purchase a minibus for the Society. These buses are used to transport the Society’s chaplains and ships’ crews in ports around the world.

The Orphanage Initiative
We donate and raise money for an orphanage in Mombasa, Kenya. We also take some of these orphans into our employment.

Sponsored sport and recreational activities
ISS staff have run marathons, climbed mountains and jumped out of aircraft, all for worthwhile charities. These initiatives are encouraged by the Company but are still highly personal endeavours.

Scholarships for Children
We sponsor children from some of the world’s poorest communities through their education giving them the chance to break out of the cycle of poverty in which they would otherwise become trapped. Upon completion of their schooling we shall be training some of these young students through the ISS Marine Academy.
