MARCH2012AroundtheNetworklISSREPORTERwww.iss-shipping.com9InordertoacquaintmanagersandsupervisorswiththerightskillsandknowledgetoprofessionallyconductthePerformanceReviewprocessISSKuwaitrecentlyorganisedaPerformanceReviewWorkshop.TheworkshopfacilitatedbyBalramSrinivasanISSKuwaitHRManagerhelpedtheparticipantsinunderstandingtheimportanceofthereviewsystembehaviouralindicatorsevaluationofpreviousyearobjectivesandtosetSMARTobjectivesforthecomingyear.TheNorthCentralAmericaExecutiveTeampicturedheldacustomerreceptionattheWindfallGrillinNewYork.ISSDubaiconductedafiredrillwithstaffevacuatedwhenthefirealarmsounded.The22firemarshalswereassignedspecificdutiesandthewholeexercisewasdonesmoothlywithpropercoordination.GlobalProgrammeManagerLeanDeliveryDavidLindselldeliversanupdateontheKaizenprogramme.AYEARHASnowpassedsinceLeanSixSigmawasintroducedintotheorganizationandinthistimetherehavebeenmanypositivesthathavecomefromtheKaizenprogramme.Australiahavecentralisedandcontinuedtofinetunetheirappointmentprocessforthreemajorportsandarestandardizingdocumentationwhereverpossible.OneyearonAspartofProgrammeKaizenaselectionofourBlackBeltcandidateshavecompletedandpassedtherequirementstocertifyasLeanSixSigmaBlackBelts.TheLeanSixSigmaBlackBeltCertificationprogrammeconsistsofthreeone-weektrainingsessions.AfterconcludingthesesessionseachcertificationcandidateisrequiredtocompletetwoprojectsthatmeettherequirementsforLeanSixSigmasignedoffbyXchangingwhensuccessfullycompleted.FollowingthesuccessfulcompletionoftheprojectsthefinalsteppingstonetoobtainingtheirBlackBeltCertificationistocompleteandpassawrittenexaminationthatmeasurescomprehensionandabilitytoapplytheLeanSixSigmamethodologytobenefitthebusiness.ThefollowingISSpersonnelarenowqualifiedasLeanSixSigmaBlackBeltsTonyBrazenorDavidWonforFranciscoVillagranHeatherMoatsJeromePupe.TheremainingBlackBeltcandidatesareintheprocessofworkingtowardscompletionoftheirprojectsthatwillmakethemeligibletotakethefinalexamination.InadditiontotheaboveBlackBeltsbothDavidLindsellandTrondBaadehavealsosuccessfullycompletedtheMasterBlackBeltcertificationrequirementsandhavequalifiedasMasterBlackBelts.BlackBeltsqualifiedDavidLindsellSouthAmericaarecentrallymanagingtheirCustomerServiceandProcurementManagementprocessesandhavedeliveredsomemeaningfulbenefitstheyhavealsofocusedverymuchonknowledgesharingandteamwork.SouthAfricahavecentralizedtheirDebtorandSubAgencyManagementprocesses.Otherregionshavealsodeliveredsignificantbenefitsandthefeedbackfromourcustomershasbeenverypositivemanyofthemcommentingonconsistencyinservicedelivery.Ourexpectationforthefutureistorolloutcurrentbestpracticeonaglobalscaleandtoaddtothegoodworkthatwasachievedduring2011.Thiscannotbedonewithouttheinvolvementandgoodwillofourpeopletowhichmuchofthesuccessachievedin2011canbeattributed.AsanorganizationweneedtoensurethatISSisseenasx1cbestinclassx1dbyourcustomerwhenitcomestocosteffectiveservicedelivery.FutureplanswillfocusonincreasedcommunicationandawarenessofLeanKaizenbyinvolvingallemployeesintheprocess.
