Corporate Social Responsibility
As part of the responsibility we have to the communities and the environment
in which we work, we are committed to giving something back through global altruistic programmes.
ISS Lighthouse Relay Voyage:
The ISS Lighthouse Relay Voyage is an ongoing initiative which commenced in February 2011, to mark ISS' commitment to
helping the sick, the underprivileged and disadvantaged in the places where we operate.
We are passionate in supporting the Sailors Society with their mission in enhancing the well-being of merchant seafarers worldwide.
The Company regularly participates in the charitys fundraising activities, including the much anticipated Three Peaks Challenge and
Dragon Boat Race and has also donated money to purchase a minibus for the Society, which is used to transport
the Societys chaplains and ships crews.
Sponsored sport and recreational activities:
We encourage our staff to participate in individual and group CSR initiatives, which they regularly do by running marathons, climbing
mountains and cycling long distances, in order to raise money for their chosen charities.
ISS Marine Academy:
By offering induction and ongoing training courses in many fields including language tuition, we give young people from around
the world the opportunity for a worthwhile career in shipping.
Scholarships for children:
We sponsor children from some of the worlds poorest communities by donating and raising money for an orphanage in Mombasa,
Kenya and supporting young children through their education. Upon completion of their schooling, some of the students are given
jobs at ISS and educated further through our ISS Marine Academy.
