ShipNet

Enter ShipNet

ShipNet provides business critical solutions to shipowners, charterers and ship managers, based on a comprehensive ERP software platform that ties together all departments within a maritime enterprise, ship to shore.

The software solutions cover all the business processes of financial and commercial management, technical fleet and procurement, at 260 customer sites in 40 countries. The company recently released Version 11 of its core ShipNet product, representing a return to an evolutionary approach of its software development.

The unique value proposition of ISS/ShipNet is catching the data at the source to process it faster and more reliably by integrating ShipNet's software solutions with ISS’ data collection and transaction tools.

Together the two companies offer the global shipping industry access to operational, live data that enables optimum use of real-time business intelligence.

The acquisition by ISS of Oslo-based ERP software provider ShipNet has been met with very positive reactions from ShipNet and ISS clients alike.

Further information can be found on the ShipNet website

Questions & Answers that help explain the new organisation.

Why did ISS buy ShipNet?

The acquisition of ShipNet enhances ISS’ own information technology capabilities and will facilitate the development of a range of useful new services. ShipNet also has a well established base of blue chip customers, many of whom are new to ISS, which will present ISS with exciting opportunities as we develop new services jointly with ShipNet to fulfil our clients’ needs and expectations.

With ShipNet being a part of the ISS Group, a swift integration of the dataflow from YourISS to ShipNet’s client base is facilitated. Such a system-integration will generate considerable process efficiency and data quality benefits for the shipping companies using the ShipNet – YourISS combination. This integration will provide shipping companies and other maritime players with an opportunity to outsource to ISS various non-core tasks. ISS already collates much of the data used in the business processes of shipping companies that are supported by ShipNet applications. A significant number of customers have requested this integration.

For shipping companies, a key benefit will be the fact that the combined use of the integrated services of ISS and ShipNet will offer considerable advantages over using ShipNet software with a competing agency service provider, or ISS’ services while using a different software solution than ShipNet.

Will ShipNet disappear as a company or even as a brand?

No, ShipNet will continue to be an independent shipping ERP solution and software provider with a separate brand, organisation and management.

This independence will ensure that ShipNet’s clients can continue to trust ShipNet to maintain the excellent standards of client-data integrity for which it has always been known.

What will happen with ShipNet’s application suite under ISS ownership?

Under the ownership of ISS, ShipNet will be able to develop both its current suite of software as well as expand its business with a range of transactional services (e-business), relating to services provided by ISS, e.g. facilitating an integrated flow of trade or commercial information between ISS and the shipping company.

Who will support ShipNet’s existing clients?

ShipNet’s existing Customer Support and sales organisation will continue to support ShipNet’s clients as before the acquisition by ISS.

How will our company benefit from ShipNet being a part of ISS?

For companies that are clients both of ShipNet and ISS, the integration clients, the acquisition of ShipNet will facilitate a swift integration of YourISS with ShipNet applications, allowing all ISS clients using ShipNet to have an integrated dataflow.

Such a system integration will generate considerable process efficiency and data quality benefits for the shipping companies using the ShipNet – YourISS combination. This integration will provide shipping companies and other maritime players with an opportunity to outsource to ISS various non-core tasks, as ISS already collates much of the data used in the business processes within the shipping companies supported by ShipNet applications.

For shipping companies, a key benefit will be that the combined use of the integrated services of ISS and ShipNet will offer considerable advantages that will not be available when using other agents or other software providers.

What assurances does my company as a client of ShipNet have for the continued integrity of our data?

ShipNet has earned a reputation for ensuring the highest standards of data integrity for all its clients. The change of ownership will not affect these standards. ShipNet will continue to run as an independent company, and all of its clients’ data will continue to be protected to the highest technical standards and by a satisfactory legal framework

Will ISS ownership make it more difficult for our company to integrate other agency groups’ systems with ShipNet’s applications?

ShipNet will remain open to cooperating with ship agency or other maritime service providers that may be in competition with ISS, in order to facilitate interfacing with these companies’ applications.

The template for interfacing with ShipNet, which will now be developed in cooperation with ISS, will be made available to any agent with a client using ShipNet applications.
