Protest in Sri Lanka Continues

Due to union action initiated by the SLPA staff, work stoppages are in progress at Colombo ports government own terminals. This is effecting container vessels calling these terminals as well navigational delays are occurring at both government and privately operated terminals.

Minimum Disruptions at the ports of Galle, Hambantota and Trincomalee

  • Unorganized protests continued to take place throughout the country last night. Clashes with government backed individuals and the general public occurred in several parts of the country. The Government ministers owned properties and businesses were targeted in some instances. Situation has calmed down by midnight. Peacefull protests continues at certain places.
  • Curfew has been extended until 7.00 am, Thursday the 12th of May.
  • No disruptions in Inchcape operations and all services delivered on schedule
