Hurricane Sally is close to making landfall. The storm is moving at 2 mph (3.2 kmh). The slow moving storm is a concern. This allows the storm to dump heavy rain fall totals. Some areas are expecting up to 30 inches (48 cm). Any residents that live near rivers and streams were urged to evacuate. Hurricane force winds are expected 45 miles (72 km) from the center of the storm. The NHC issued a warning today sighting “historic life-threatening flooding likely”.
The good news is the wind speed has slowed from 110 mph (177 kmh) to 85 mph (136 kmh).
Crude oil prices were up $0.60 USD/barrel at $37.86 USD. Flash flooding could effect pipelines and refineries, stopping imports and exports. Louisiana suffered an 80% production loss due to hurricane Laura earlier this month.
