Australia - Cape Lambert Squall Warning

Please find herewith below notification received from Rio Tinto.



Hi All, 

Please find attached Squall warning for Cape Lambert, 

Forecast of a possible squall fronts impacting site from 12:00 hrs today, see warning below and attached.

MODERATE risk of squalls this afternoon 30kt. Squalls lasting up to 20minutes with onset gusts to 40kt and temporarily raised seas. New 10sec period swell this 21002400WST
on the 11th.

MSWA / HMS – Please kindly discuss when on-board. 


  • Please kindly request vessels alongside to monitor their mooring lines closely, if assistance Is required please contact Ship Loader or Port Walcott Base immediately on VHF 14. 
  • Please inform vessel at anchor of possible weather and to closely monitor anchor positions. 


  • We will require tugs to be on STB, Coordinators will discuss STB times as required. 


  • Please continue to monitor mooring lines closely for vessels alongside, and if assistance is required please call Marine Coordinators asap.
