Issue TypeCivil unrest
ImpactDelays

At present, the potential consequences of the strike remain subject to uncertainty. The following represents our best estimate, with the situation evolving:

Monday, 24 November

Trade unions have not formally called for action; however, they will support any workers who choose to participate in industrial action, including access to strike allowance.

Tuesday, 25 November & Wednesday, 26 November

Official strike action is planned, primarily in protest against government austerity measures affecting pensions.

No actions anticipated by pilots or traffic controllers in Antwerp.

Actions expected by traffic controllers in Zeebrugge and by Vloot (pilot transport service).

Impact on Port Operations

Port of Antwerp: Operations will continue but at reduced capacity. Delays and intermittent standstills of certain services may occur.

Advance notification of disruptions is not provided by unions, in keeping with customary approaches designed to maximise impact.

This advisory is an estimate only, not definitive guidance. The stance and response of trade unions may change without notice.

A further update will be issued as soon as the situation changes or new information becomes available.
