The transport of the fifth tunnel element from the construction dock in the inner port to the breakwaters in Zeebrugge is scheduled for the time window of 10 July 2025. The tunnel element measures 160 metres in length, 43 metres in width, and has a draught of 10 metres, with minimal freeboard. The operation will be carried out with the assistance of five tugboats.

During this transport, temporary and local disruptions to shipping traffic within the port are expected, which will impact port and lock planning. For real-time information, vessels may contact the Lockmaster on VHF channel 68 (inner port) or Port Control on VHF channel 71 (outer port).

Indicative Schedule

  • Start of winching at the construction dock in the inner port: 10 July at 12:30 PM
  • Passage through the P. Vandamme Lock (PVD Lock): 10 July from 3:40 PM to 5:10 PM
  • Passage through the Zeebrugge breakwaters: 10 July at 7:40 PM

Temporary Closures to Shipping

  1. Connection Dock Region Closure:
    In effect from 12:30 PM to 2:40 PM on 10 July.
    If the tunnel element passes the Connection Bridge earlier, the closure will be lifted. This closure applies to the area bounded by Herdersbrug – Visart Lock – Connection Bridge.
  2. Outer Port Closure:
    In effect from 6:40 PM to 7:40 PM as the tunnel element exits the waiting area and passes the breakwaters. This will be followed by a departure ban from 7:40 PM to 8:40 PM, or until the element passes buoy S7.
