Our history and our future ambitions
Watch the video to see highlights from our 175 year history and gain an insight into our future ambitions for the business and industry.
Proud of our history
From our UK roots, dating back to Campbeltown on Scotland’s west coast in 1847, we’ve been at the forefront of the global shipping services industry, maintaining a vanguard spirit to the changes the sector has witnessed. As part of our 175 anniversary celebrations, we’ll be highlighting key moments in our history and how they have shaped us into the business we are today, still leading the way and still making history.
Committed to supporting our local communities
Throughout 2022 we’ll be spotlighting some of the charitable activities our teams have performed across our global network. Over the course of 2022, we’ll be showcasing projects, schemes and initiatives to raise money for local charities or support the local communities in which we operate.

Our customers can be confident that they are working with an honest and ethically robust business, one which is actively driving the industry in the right direction. You are also supporting your own supply chain validation and ensuring you are meeting global standards for transparent, ethical and environmentally responsible business.
Seafarer wellbeing has been an important topic for Inchcape in recent years and, as part of our 175 anniversary, we’re proud to be partnering with the Sailors’ Society’s Wellness at Sea programme, sharing helpful advice and focusing on what Inchcape can do to support seafarers and realise a safer shipping industry for everyone’s benefit.
