A fire incident occurred at the Balboa Storage Tank area on 06 April 2026 at approximately 14:30 local time. The location affected includes the Balboa Storage Tank Facilities within the Balboa Port Area, where a localised fire broke out at shore-side storage tanks involving tank trucks.
The fire brigade and terminal emergency response teams were mobilised immediately, and the situation is now reported as under control. Emergency protocols were activated by both terminal and port authorities, and Panama Canal transit convoys remain unaffected.
As a preventive safety measure, the affected area has been cordoned off, and vehicle traffic across the Bridge of the Americas has been temporarily suspended pending inspection.
