At approximately 07:34 local time (UTC -5) on 10 August 2026, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake occurred in western Colombia near San José del Palmar, Chocó. The tremor was felt across much of the country, including key logistics and industrial regions. Authorities have confirmed no tsunami threat to Colombia’s Pacific Coast or regional maritime operations.

At the time of this advisory, major Colombian ports remain operational, with precautionary inspections and monitoring activities ongoing.

Maritime Operations Status

Pacific Coast
Buenaventura Port: Operational. No significant damage to port infrastructure or marine facilities has been reported. Safety inspections are ongoing as a precaution.
Tsunami Risk: Authorities and monitoring agencies have confirmed there is no tsunami threat associated with this event.

Caribbean Coast
Cartagena, Barranquilla, and Santa Marta: Operations continue under normal conditions with no reported impact to terminal or vessel activities.

Logistics & Supply Chain Impact
Some inland transportation corridors in western and central Colombia are undergoing safety assessments following the earthquake. Localized delays may occur on certain road routes serving the Pacific region.
Certain regional airports, particularly in the Coffee Region, have temporarily suspended operations for infrastructure inspections. Bogotá and Medellín airport operations remain active.
No significant vessel delays, berth closures, or cargo handling suspensions have been reported at this time.
