Yesterday’s well marked low pressure area over East central Bay of Bengal moved west northwest and concentrated into a depression and lay centred at 0000 UTC of today, the 22nd of October, over the same region near latitude 15.4° N and longitude 91.2°E, about 730 km southeast of Paradip (42976, Odisha), 770 km south-southeast of Sagar Island (West Bengal) and 740 km southsoutheast of Khepupara (41984, Bangladesh).
It is very likely to move west-northwest wards and intensify into a cyclonic storm by 23rd October, 2024 over east central Bay of Bengal. Thereafter, continuing to move northwest wards, it is very likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm over northwest Bay of Bengal by 0000 UTC of 24th and cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during 1800 UTC of 24th and 0000 UTC OF 25th October, 2024 as a severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph.
