Following our previous advisory, we are providing an update on the situation affecting port operations in Tanzania during and after the general elections held on 29 October 2025.
Key Developments:
- 29 October (Election Day): Declared a public holiday.
- 29 October AM – 3 November PM: All email and social media platforms were unexpectedly taken offline nationwide.
- 29 October PM – Ongoing: A mandatory curfew from 19:00 to 07:00 remains in place due to widespread unrest in several cities.
- 30 October – 1 November: All port operations were suspended.
- Fuel Shortages: Severe fuel supply constraints continue to impact inland transportation and logistics.
Current Status:
- As of 4 November, port operations in Dar es Salaam are beginning to resume gradually. However, service disruptions are still expected due to heightened security measures and restricted movement across the city.
- Our local team is safe and accounted for, and we are seeing positive signs of recovery both operationally and socially.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as conditions evolve.
