A state of emergency was declared for Port Moresby, following riots in the capital.
The state of emergency, which was implemented from January 12, involves random police and military checkpoints, a ban on public gatherings, and a curfew. However, it was emphasised that it would not impact port and/or terminal operations. Despite the emergency measures, business is expected to continue as usual in Port Moresby and other parts of Papua New Guinea.
