ImpactWarning

A deep depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, located 100 km east-northeast of Trincomalee, is expected to intensify into Cyclone Fengal within 12 hours. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has issued an orange alert for very heavy rains in Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Puducherry. A yellow alert for heavy rains covers Chennai, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Karaikal.

Port Status:
  • Kattupalli Port – cargo operations have been suspended due to heavy winds and high swells. Both inward and outward movements are temporarily halted.
  • Ennore Port – container vessel operations are progressing slowly due to vessel rolling; however, outward movements are still permitted while inward movements have been temporarily suspended.
  • Chennai Port – outward movements are proceeding as scheduled. Inward movements are currently halted due to strong winds prevailing at sea, and in-port cargo operations are continuing at a reduced pace.
