Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Warning

Following a significant earthquake off the eastern coast of Japan, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued tsunami warnings and advisories for large parts of the country’s Pacific coastline.

Tsunami warnings (red zones) and tsunami advisories (yellow zones) remain in force and will continue until formally cancelled by the JMA.

Operational impact

As a precautionary safety measure, all ports located within affected warning and advisory zones are currently closed.

This includes ports along the east coast of Japan from Ibaraki Prefecture north to Abashiri, covering affected areas of Honshu and Hokkaido. Port operations will remain suspended until tsunami warnings and advisories are lifted.

Vessels have been instructed to follow local authority and port captain guidance. Coastal access remains restricted while warnings are in place.
