Due to the ongoing national strike action against the Federal Coalition Agreement, disruptions to maritime traffic to and from the ports in Flanders are expected to remain noticeable in the coming days.

Currently, there are 122 vessels waiting:

  • In Antwerp, 49 vessels are waiting to leave the port.
  • In Zeebrugge, 5 vessels are waiting to leave the port.
  • In Ghent, 11 vessels are waiting to leave the port.
  • In the North Sea, 57 vessels are waiting, of which 39 are destined for Antwerp, 14 for Zeebrugge, and 4 for North Sea Port.

At present, no vessels navigate to or from the ports with a Dutch or Flemish pilot on board.

This morning, the shift changes for Vessel Traffic Services, the MRCC, and the Joint Nautical Authority proceeded as normal.

Several pilots affiliated with ACOD continued their actions until 11:30.

MDK emphasises that they will thoroughly evaluate the actions taken over the past few days and will provide feedback on this matter later.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as necessary.
