The Hong Kong Marine Department has launched a Port Dues Incentive Scheme for Green Maritime Fuel-related Vessels, effective from 16 June 2026 to 15 June 2029, to support the maritime industry’s transition to cleaner fuels
Under the scheme, eligible ocean-going vessels (OGVs) engaged in green fuel-related operations in Hong Kong may receive incentives equivalent to 25% or 50% of port dues paid during their port call. Eligible activities include supplying, receiving, transporting, or operating on green maritime fuels such as LNG, methanol, hydrogen, ammonia, and bio-diesel blends containing at least 20% biofuel.
The initiative aims to reduce the cost burden of adopting green maritime fuels and accelerate the decarbonisation of shipping.
