|When is the issue expected to end?
Ports of Mourilyan, Townsville, Lucinda, Abbot Point, Mackay and Hay Point are closed until further notice and have been evacuated of commercial vessels due to the impending arrival of Cyclone Kirrily, and associated heavy weather conditions.
Tropical Cyclone Kirrily is now a severe category three system, with winds near the centre of 120kph and wind gusts up to 165 kph. It is moving west-south-west at 22kph and expected to cross the coast “in the vicinity of Townsville” tonight as a category three system, then weaken tomorrow as it moves inland.
