PORT MATHURIN
Issue TypeSevere weather conditions

Please note that a cyclone warning class 2 has been in force in Mauritius since 0410 hrs today, Tuesday, 25 February 2025. In view of the movement and present location of the tropical depression, port normalcy is maintained. However, the weather conditions in the port may deteriorate later.

At 0400 hours, the tropical depression was centred at about 630 km to the west-north-west ofMauritius, that is in latitude 18.3 degrees south and longitude 51.8 degrees east. It continues to move slowly towards the east.
As per the available numerical models, the environmental conditions will remain favourable for its further intensification and also the tropical depression is expected to eventually recurve southwards.
Along this expected trajectory, the tropical depression will approach Mauritius while gradually intensifying into a moderate tropical storm and as such constitutes a potential threat to the island.

A cyclone warning class II is in force in Mauritius.

The public in Mauritius is advised to complete all preliminary precautions.

Outer cloud bands associated with the tropical depression will cross the island as from late this afternoon. The weather will be rather cloudy with localised showers which may be moderate with risk of isolated thunderstorms as from this evening. Fog patches will persist mainly over the highgrounds. Wind will blow from the east-north-easterly at a speed of about 25 km/h, strengthening gradually with gusts of the order of 60 km/h.

Sea rough beyond the reefs with swells. It is advised not to venture at sea.
