Strong Wind Warning for Wed 21st & Thurs 22nd September 2022 (Port Botany / Port Jackson)
The weather information available to Sydney VTS indicates:
Wednesday 21st September 2022: North Easterly Winds from 1200hrs of 20knots (average) to 28 knots (gusts) WARNING: Peak gusts may reach 33 knots at times.
Thursday 22nd September 2022: East, North Easterly Winds 21knots (average) to 28 knots (gusts) WARNING: Peak gusts may reach 36 knots at times.
Agents – Sydney VTS request that you monitor weather forecasts closely and make reference to the Towage Tables Sydney Harbour and Port Botany in force from 15 February 2022.
Agents may be required to add additional towage to movements at short notice as winds increase and should plan as such.
The Harbourmaster advises that all immobilisation is prohibited for the duration of this weather event and that vessels at affected berths have their Bow Thrusters and Main Engines on standby.
Mooring winches to be in manual tension mode and on the brake.
Please communicate the above weather information to those vessels that will be impacted by this weather event as soon as possible.
