Port operations in Hong Kong are currently suspended due to the approach of Super Typhoon Yagi.

The No. 8 Northeast Gale or Storm Signal was issued at 6:20 p.m.

According to the present forecast, Yagi will remain at super typhoon intensity and skirt about 300 kilometres to the southwest of Hong Kong tomorrow morning. Gale-force winds associated with Yagi are expected to affect the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary tonight and tomorrow morning. The Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 is expected to remain in force at least until noon tomorrow.
