SC circular concerning withholding or erroneous reporting of defects comes into effect 1st of April

The Suez Canal have issued SC CIRCULAR NO. 13 which will be applicable as of the 1st of April 2022.

The circular concerns the vessel’s master withholding or erroneous reporting defects which might undermine safety of navigation in the canal.

If a Suez Canal Authority’s representative ( pilot or harbor master ) finds that there has been a deliberate withholding and/or negligence to report any defects in the ship’s equipment, devices, anchors and/or any other defects that might undermine safety of navigation in the Canal, an additional dues of $10.000 ( ten thousand USD ) shall be applied on the same transit.

Without prejudice to any other additional dues applicable to these defects as stipulated in SC RULES of Navigation , December 2020 edition.
