Suez Canal – Rebate Update

The Suez Canal Authority has issued new rebate circulars for Petroleum products & Chemical tankers. The new periodicals apply to vessels transiting the Suez Canal from July 1st, 2023.


Circular no. 2/2023 concerns laden “Petroleum Products Tankers” operating from the US Gulf (from Miami) and the Caribbean (north of San Andres Island) to:

  • West Coast India (from Port of Karachi until Cochin Port) – 20%
  • Ports east of Cochin port up to Port Klang – 60%
  • Port Klang and its Eastern Ports (Far East Area) – 75%


Circular no. 3/2023 concerns “Chemical & Other Liquid Bulk” Tankers (Laden/Ballast) operating from:

East Coast of North America (ports located at the North of Miami) to:

  • Eastern ports to the port of (Cochin) up to (Port Klang) – 15%
  • Port Klang and its eastern ports – 25%

US Gulf (from Miami), Caribbean, South America to:

  • West Coast India (from Port of Karachi until Cochin Port) – 25%
  • Ports east of Cochin port up to Port Klang – 55% 
  • Port Klang and its Eastern Ports (Far East Area) – 75%

Additionally, 3 new rebates have been added, 4 rebates have been amended and 24 rebates have been extended for another 6 months.
